Line Mechanic (Glove and Barrier)

Join a team that powers communities! Horizon Services is looking for a qualified and experienced Line Mechanic (Glove and Barrier) to help maintain and develop our electricity distribution network. About the Role:

As a Line Mechanic (Glove and Barrier), you will be responsible for performing live line work and maintenance on overhead and underground distribution systems. You'll work across our Horizon Energy network, ensuring that all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground lines, including live line Glove & Barrier work.
  • Support construction, fault, and maintenance projects in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Mentor and support trainees and new team members.
  • Maintain plant, tools, and equipment in excellent condition.
  • Deliver outstanding service to internal and external customers.

What You'll Bring:

Qualifications:

  • Current NZ EWRB Registration and Practising Licence (Line Mechanic)
  • Level 4 NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution)
  • Level 4 National Certificate in Live Work Stick (up to 66kV)
  • Level 5 National Certificate in Live Work Glove & Barrier (up to 33kV)
  • Manual driver's license including heavy traffic

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience
  • Solid understanding of distribution systems up to 33kV
  • Excellent knowledge of safety standards and industry regulations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Computer literate and willing to embrace new technologies
  • Motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused
