Asset Inspector

Horizon Networks is an Electricity Distribution Company operating throughout the Eastern Bay of Plenty region.

Horizon Networks, based in Whakatane is recruiting for a self-motivated individual to fill the Asset Inspector position on a full-time and permanent basis.

Reporting to the Asset Inspection Lead, the purpose of the role is to:

  • Carry out cyclic asset inspections and testing Horizon Network's field assets as directed by the Network's programme of work
  • Proactively identify assets that may be unsafe or unreliable and capture them using digital field devices
  • Identify the defects, and process them according to Network's defect framework
  • Maintain positive long-term relationships with the Network, other staff, landowners and customers
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks including but not limited to cable locate, high-load, field verification, and other works reasonably aligned with the purpose of this role and the capability of the employee
  • Participate in the development of Horizon Networks Health, Criticality and Risk frameworks and reporting system.

To be successful a candidate will require the following qualifications and experience:

  • Current NZ Electrical Practising Licence
  • Qualified Linesman or Electrician
  • Electrical Trade Certificate
  • Current Manual NZ Drivers Licence
  • Over 5 years in Electricity Distribution is desirable however not essential
  • Asset location/identification experience, including ground-mounted, overhead line, and cable locations
  • Good knowledge of relevant electricity industry rules, regulations and best practices
  • Knowledge of electricity distribution equipment (low and high voltage)
  • Accurate field data entry in electronic devices, e.g. tablet, mobile or desktop computer
  • Good computer literacy in Microsoft, iOS and Android devices are necessary
  • Accurate assessment of asset condition
  • Physical fitness is essential
  • Able to navigate remote rugged terrain by vehicle and/or on foot.
